Grass lawns are great places to have fun on; games of all sorts can be played on grass lawns. Grasses are more robust than most forbs, and although T-lawns can take a surprising amount of footfall, they are not suited to ball games. T-lawns are a garden feature, not a sports surface.
However, there is still fun to be had...
Exploring a T-lawn for the first time, a youngster came across the fluffy white galls that sometimes occur on germander speedwell (Veronica chamaedrys) due to a tiny gall midge. Her youthful explanation created right there on the spot was that "Lawn pixies were growing bunny tails".
T-lawn pixies, eh, who would have guessed?
Another youngster exploring the lawn at the same time came across a dark-leaved four-leaf clover, promptly harvested it and with great delight announced he would give it to his dad as his dad played the lottery and had never won anything.
Lucky T-lawns it would seem, or did a canny gardener include the white clover nativar Trifolium repens '"Dark Dancer"™ in the planting mix?
It is not only youngsters that can find delight in T-lawns.
A discarded pair of fluffy, pink, plastic handcuffs (amongst other grown-up items) were discovered on a somewhat flattened park T-lawn, having mysteriously appeared overnight while the park was officially closed to visitors.
A bed of lush scented foliage, covered in flowers can be both a fun and romantic destination it would seem...
